Take it Easy, Love is Hard

TIELove is a place to look back on. It is an online journal to track what I've learned in web development and to share that with you.

Resources are Easy, Inspiration is Hard

The Easy Option

In each of these TIE-Love posts we identify two concepts in the title: one is easy for us to grasp or act on, the other is more challenging. As the title suggests, our two concepts are resource gathering and inspiration.

Gathering resources for your career or hobby in web development is a simple and powerful skill. Resources you gather such as articles, videos, presentations, and pdfs, and people are your collective North Star. They will always lead you back to inspiration, which is undoubtedly the harder thing to generate.

For this post we’re breaking from the norm and reaching for the easy option, because gathering resources is vitally important for our productivity and creativity. The following is my current list of most valued resources.

The Articles

Medium.com If you’re not on this site, create an account and explore. There are tons of devs posts articles all the time and they range from beginner to way over my head. Here are my current favorite streams of articles:

The Youtubes

Here a few of my go to channels:

  • Christopher Okhravi This guy has great skills when it comes to teaching dificult concepts in functional programming.

  • Coding Tech This channel provides a constant flow of informative presentations on the most modern trends of coding today.

  • Traversy Media He is sooo good at breaking down concepts useful for ANY web developer. He is living document to all the relevant frameworks and libraries you are thinking of using.

The Podcasts

  • Syntax This podcast is hosted by two guys that have been in the game a while yet still know what it’s like getting started as a developer. They are great about giving you every angle on relevant web dev concepts, tools, and lifestyles.
